Mieloo & Alexander managed the global parts serialization and configuration management program, initiated as the foundation to realize a large number of improvements in overall systems quality and customer service.

Business Case Global part serialization and configuration management: – To remain market leader and to create market share growth, ASML meets higher customer expectations. Therefore, ASML needs to focus, not only on the technological roadmap, but also on a professional turn in configuration management. – The working environment of ASML (key)customers exclude or require certain material characteristics. Moreover, regulations forces ASML customers to reproduce the roots of all materials used. At the same time ASML customers expect maximum quality with zero defects in their products. – This changing environment requires accurate registration of all parts, and to do so, ASML needs to identify all parts using serial numbers in their entire supply chain. Capturing all materials with serial numbers will bring extra administrative workload. Therefore, the “barcode-project” was introduced, to automate this process efficient and accurately. Project: Mieloo & Alexander managed the global parts serialization and configuration management program, initiated as the foundation to realize a large number of improvements in overall systems quality and customer service. Responsibilities of M&A, included: – Program definition and planning; – Process and system analysis and blueprint; – Managing the hardware and vendor selection; – Roll out of processes and solutions to ASML factories (2), regional distribution centers (3) and local service logistics operations (55); – Ensuring that a total of 350 suppliers worldwide print and apply ASML barcode tags on ASML parts, and 80 suppliers worldwide also maintain the Configuration as Bought for sub-assemblies in web portals for both functionalities. Key Figures: – Project budget: € 15M; – Project team: 35 FTE; – Approximately 1.500 end users; – Lead time: 4 years (Blueprint design to roll out); – By the end of the program, 80% of the configuration items (> € 200,=) of the mainstream systems were serialized and captured in the configuration as built hierarchy.
